Description |
Superior orbital fissure syndrome (SOFS) comprises a constellation of symptoms caused by compression of structures anterior to the orbital apex. The superior orbital fissure contains the oculomotor nerve, trochlear nerve, ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve, abducens nerve, and superior and inferior ophthalmic veins. While the most common cause of SOFS is trauma, other etiologies include neoplasms, infections, inflammatory conditions, vascular abnormalities and, very rarely, iatrogenic causes. We present a rare case of iatrogenic SOFS following an elective septoplasty. |
