Other/Other Residential Type Foundation Materials: Concrete Additions: I ] none I ] minor No. of Stories: 1 WaU Material(s): Stucco (synthetic) I X ] major (describe below) Alterations: I I none I ] minor IX] major (describe below) OUTBUILDINGS ARE OUT-OF-PERIOD Number of associated outbuildings: I 4 ] and/or structures: I 0 ]. Briefly describe the principal building, additions or alterations and their dales, and associated outbuildings and structures. Use continuation sheets as necessary: Constructed as a residence, the main building at 2260 South 4000 West now houses office space for at least one business located behind the structure. Three large, out-of-period, aluminum frame service bay/warehouse buildings are located behind the former residence. A fourth outbuilding, a modern Tuff Shed, is also located behind the residential structure. Although the online tax assessment information indicates that two ca. 1953 outbuildings were present on the property, no such structures could be located during the present inventory. The tzx assessment indicates that these structures are "detached property," thus they may be located at some distance from the main structure and are not readily identifiable as being associated. The building is representative of the general early 20th century period of construction (early 20th century other). The eaves of the roof are quite close, with only a 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8 inch) overhang, and the walls are covered with synthetic stucco. A single brick chimney is visible in the structure and is located near the center of the rear of the building. The only noticeable stylistic elements are the multi-light windows present in the fa~ade of the building. These windows consist of a pair of 12-light, wood frame, sliding windows and two sets of 3-light casement windows in a single horizontal opening. The sliding window is located in the fa~ade portion of the projecting bay addition, and the opening for the window has been modified. It appears that, at one time, a large picture window was present in this location of the building. The opening for the larger window has been partially enclosed, and the multi-light sliding window has been installed in the upper corner of it. The fa~ade of the building faces east and fronts on 4000 West. It contains the two window openings described previously and a single pedestrian doorway, which is located in the north wall of the projecting addition. A concrete stoop consisting of two steps provides access to the door. The stoop, doorway, and northern window are all located below a simple, shed roof style porch supported by two metal pipe posts. The south wall of the building exhibits no remarkable architectural detail. It contains two window openings and a third opening that has been enclosed. The exempted opening is located in the south wall of the projecting addition to the front of the house. The centrally located window opening is small and rectangular in shape with the long axis oriented horizontally. The opening houses a single-pane, fixed sash window. The western window opening is located only a few feet from the rear of the building, in what appears to be a short addition off of the southwest corner of the house. The opening is roughly square and holds an aluminum frame sliding window. The western half of the window has been covered with a plywood sheet. The north wall of the building also exhibits no particularly noteworthy architectural details. Like the south wall, three window openings are present in this wall. The eastern opening is located in the gable end of the front portion of the house. This opening is rectangular in shape with the long axis oriented horizontally. The opening contains an aluminum frame sliding window. The central opening is relatively small and rectangular in shape with the long axis oriented vertically. The opening houses a wood frame, double-hung window. The western opening in the north wall is located near the rear of the structure. The opening appears to be identical to the western opening in the south wall and also houses an aluminum frame sliding window. The rear (west) wall of the building was not inspected as part of this survey as access to private property for the purpose of the inventory had not been obtained. It appears, however, that an addition was constructed off of the southwest corner of the house. The porch appears to extend only part way across the back of the house as no indication of the addition is visible on the north side of the building. 5 HISTORY Archit~ctlBuiJd~r: Historic Th~m~s: DaI~ Unknown Mark th~m~s r~lilI~d to (Su instructions for details) ( I Agriculture ( ) [ ) () [) [) [) Architecture Archaeology Art Commerce Communications Community Planning & Development this prop~rty with "S" or "C" (S ( I Conservation ( I Economics ( ( ( ( ( ) ) ) ) ) [ ) Education Engineering EntertainmentlRecreation Ethnic Heritage Exploration/Settlement Health/Medicine of Construction: ca. 1930 =SignifICant; C =Contributing).
