This is one of the latest vlright-influenced designs and shows a trend toward simplicity necessitated by economic considerations as the Church was growing rapidly. Built of white cream brick with concrete trim, the familiar deep mullions and wall pilasters are combined with deep, cantilevered eaves :and the frequent indenting of wall surfaces to give relief and an interesting · shadowy effect. The roof is gabled and has a low-pitched gable facade.. All bays are square with the exception of the arched bay over the south entrance. This bay is splayed in courses of brick and also has two wide mullions at the door jambs. Built on a hill, the chapel was actually constructed around the Big Cottonwood Ward meetinghouse which was built in 1884 and is now the recreation hall. The thick walls of this building can be seen from within the new chapel. 129 The hall has a vaulted ceiling. a cost of $45,000. place in 1921.
