Abstract William Fletcher Hoyt, MD (1926-2019) William Fletcher Hoyt, MD, died on March 20, 2019, at the age of 92, leaving an enormous legacy to the field of neuro-ophthalmology. Indeed, he changed the face of neuro-ophthalmology, not only in the United States, but also through-out the world through his writings, travels, and the training of hundreds of residents and fellows. Bill Hoyt likened his career to being the harpist in an orchestra; this was is metaphor for the highly specialized nature of neuro-ophthalmology.
