Abstract Randomized controlled trials (RCT) are critically important in development of treatments, gaining regulatory approval for treatments, and payment for treatments. A single RCT is classified as level 2evidence and a systematic review of more than one RCT is classified as Level 1 evidence by the Oxford Centre for Evidence Based Medicine (1-3).
