Identified among the group dedicating the Maube Ferry are from left, first group unidentified. Mrs. Kelly, Birdie Stewart, Hugh Stewart, Albert C. Boyle, unidentified, John Bullock, Mrs. Meeks, and the rest unidentified. Nearly one thousand people gathered for the pageant and program before the unveiling of the Maube Ferry Monument. The monument was considerd to be one of the most beautiful and unique historic markers in Utah. It was the first to be dedicated in Uintah County by the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. The design was done by Frank P. Wellman. The artistic work of masonry was done by Garn Swain of Vernal. The land was donated by Mr. and Mrs Charles Wise. The Jensen (Mau-be) Ferry Monument Dedication program was under the direction of Mrs. Louesa B. Hacking. Mrs. Oral Tenney spoke and the marker was received by Mrs. Florence Kelly. The dedicatorial prayer was offered by Hyrum B. Calder. The children sang "Utah, We Love Thee". Mrs. Oscar A. Kirkham and Mrs. Kate Carter from the State D.U.P. attended. |
