The building at 430 West Main Street is а transitional fonn between а Period Cottage and а Саре Cod residence (see photo # 1572). It has the overall Саре Cod fonn but has the steeper roof pitch of а Period Cottage and the decorative detailing of Period Revival styles, including а decorative brick belt course (see photo #1584) and exposed rafter tails. The рlan of the building is rectangular, however, an addition оп the northeast comer of the residence causes the rectangular рlan to ье somewhat irregular. The building is а single stoJ:y tall, is clad јп а combination of several materials, though multi-colored regular brick with occasional clinker brick inclusions is the most соттоп (see photo # 1582). The building rests upon а concrete slab foundation, though the foundations of the шaiп house and the northeast addition are of somewhat different composition (see photos #1584 and 1585). The steeply pitched gable roof is clad in composite asphalt shingles, and the eaves are quite narrow. The gable walls of the residence are clad in brick-pattemed asphalt sheets (see photo $1583), while the gable end of the northeast addition, which is constructed of concrete block, is clad јп clapboard siding. Portions of the northem elevation are clad јп drop/novelty siding (see photo # 1588). The addition (see photo #1586) appears to ье an in-period structure, likely constructed within 10-15 years of when the house itself was built The southem elevation of the residence is its primary f~ade. The main епиу to the building is centered јп the elevation and contains а modem cross-and-book metal door. The stoop is а small fonned-concrete platfonn with а gable cover supported Ьу square wooden posts with block capitals and matching pilasters flanking the door (see photo # 1580). Two window openings are also present јп the elevation and are arranged symmetrically with o'ne оп either side of the entryway. The openings hold large, wood-framed, fixed-pane windows (see photo # 1581). The east elevation of the residence is characterized Ьу four window openings, an extemal сhimnеу, and а cross-gable projecting Ьау (see photo 31572). The projecting Ьау is located at the southem end of the elevation, and the chimney is located оп the centerline of the Ьау, piercing the peak of the gable. Two of the windQw openings flank either side of the сhimnеу. These short, rectangular openings are јп­ filled with fiberglass sheet (see photo # 1583). The remaining two window openings in the elevation are located north of the projecting Ьау. Onе opening is close to the projecting Ьау, and the other is flush against the intersection of the northeast addition. Both openings contain wood-framed, single-hung windows. А small, plywood, attic access doorlhatch has Ьееп installed in the lower portion of the gable wall, and an attic vent is present near the peak ofthe gable (see photo # 1573). The northem (rear) elevation ofthe residence has а shallow projecting Ьау at the eastem end and two window openings, опе јп the center of the projecting Ьау and опе in the center of the westem half of the elevation. The window opening in the projecting Ьау is small and holds а modem, alurninum-frame, slider window inserted into а wood-frame window opening (see photo # 1577). The window opening in the westem half of the elevation contains а wood-framed, single-hung window (see photo # 1576). The westem elevation of the residence contains three symmetrically arranged window openings. The two located closer to the ends of the elevation сопtain wood-framed, single-hung windows. The center window is set high јп the elevation and is contains а small, metalframed, slider window. ЈЬе northeast additipn contains three window openings and а second entryway into the residence. Two of the window openings and the doorway are located in the southem elevation of the addition. The doorway is located in the center of the elevation and is flanked оп either side Ьу short, narrow, wood-framed, fixed-pane windows (see photo # 1586). Onе window opening is present in the eastem elevation of the addition and is centered in the elevation. It holds а large, metal-framed, slider window inserted into а wood-framed opening. Use continuation sheets as necessary. property at 430 West Main Street was owned Ьу the Featherstone family from 1908 unti11949, eight years after the residence was built (Utah County 1908, 1942 and 1949). Members ofthe Featherstone family reportedly worked as construction contractors, inc1uding the owner ofthe property at the tiше the house was bui1t, Chase Featherstone (Polk 1923). Chase Featherstone had obtained the property from Јоhn Potts in 1908. Interesting1y, Chase Featherstone wou1d Ьауе Ьееп 12 years old at the time Ье obtained the property. It appears that his father, Heber Char1es Featherstone, тау Ьауе provided guardianship over the property, as Ье is identified as the owner in 1942 with по interim transactions deeding the property from Chase to Heber. Heber Featherstone passed away in 1945, but three years prior to his death Ье deeded the property to his wife, Ce1estia (Utah County 1942). Ce1estia retained the property unti1 1949, deeding it to Howard and Лliсе Evans (Utah County 1949). ТЬе Evanses he1d tit1e to the property for 17 Уeзrs before deeding it to Dennis and Кathy z. Greenwood (Utah County 1966). In 1983 а quit c1aim deed was issued to the Greenwood Бrothеrs Limited Partnership from Dennis, Кathy, Кеп, Rita and Sandra Greenwood (Utah County 1983).
