Use continuation sheets as necessary: The residence located at 65 North 400 West in Lehi, Utah is a wwn Era Cottage exhibiting elements of Minimal Traditional style, including narrow eaves and limited external adornment (see photo # 1555). The building has a square plan and moderately pitched hipped-with-gablets style roof (see photo # 1556). Owner and resident Lorena Roach stated that she and family members have not altered the home since purchasing it in 1983 (Lorena Roach, personal communication, 07-01-09). The home rests on a painted concrete-wall foundation with a single, screened vent visible at the base of the southern elevation (see photo # 1561). The walls are constructed of concrete blocks. The roof is covered with composite asphalt shingles. Three vent pipes exit the roof. One is centered in the northern roof slope and another is placed east of center at the base of the southern roof slope. The third pipe centered in the base of the roof slope over the western.elevation; the pipe is rusted and uncapped, and appears older than the other two (see photo # 1559). A TV antenna is placed against the southern gablet face. The main entry is centered in the eastern elevation and contains a solid-core, single-panel door (see photo # 1556). The stoop is a wide concrete slab with a small, unsupported, gabled porch cover. A concrete wheelchair ramp accesses the stoop and is a modem, though nonsubstantive, alteration of the original property. The gable face of the porch cover is clad in wood sheet product. Two window openings are present in the eastern elevation, and they are arranged symmetrically on either side of the centrally located doorway, though the openings are of different sizes. The window opening north of the entry is a tall, single-hung, wood-framed window with a metal-framed, storm window. The window opening south of the entry holds a large, fixed-pane, picture window in a wooden frame. The northern elevation has two symmetrically positioned window openings. Each window has metal-framed storm windows over woodframed, single-hung, sash windows. Both windows have striated brick sills. The western (rear) elevation contains a secondary entry and three window openings (see photo # 1557). The entry is centered in the southern half of the elevation and contains a sash door with a glass upper panel and a wood-framed screened storm door. The stoop is a concrete pad with three concrete steps. The porch cover is identical to the one over the main entry, in the eastern elevation. All three windows in this elevation are modem metal-framed inserts with metal-framed, storm windows. All window openings have striated brick sills and are single-hung, sash windows. The northern window opening is centered in the northern half of the elevation. It is tall, and rectangular. The middle window opening is small and set high in the elevation just north of the entry. The southern window is positioned near the end of the elevation. There is a meter box made of oversized brick (see photo # 1558) positioned under the center window. Wood rot has damaged the eave on the western elevation (see photo # 1559). The southern elevation has two symmetrically placed windows (see photo # 1561). Both are wood-framed, single-hung, sash windows without storm windows. These windows also have striated brick sills. The foundation vent is positioned under the western window. One contributing outbuilding is present on the property and is located south of the residence (see photo # 1560). This outbuilding is an end-gable shed, constructed of brick. The roof has a steep pitch with close eaves and bargeboards (see photo # 1564). The roof and brick are severely deteriorated, with remnants of plank roofing and large areas where the brick has spalled. The entry to the shed is centered in the northern elevation and consists of framed wood sheet. There are no windows or other openings (see photo # 1565,1567). Jaunitta and Dulwyn Margretts owned the parcel ofland on which it was built, having obtained it in 1941 from Amy D. Smith (Utah County, 1941). The Margretts were the original occupants of the residence, though only for a short time. Property history records indicate that the Margretts gave a warranty deed for the property to Bert and Clara Petersen in October of 1949 (Utah County, 1949). The Petersens deeded the property to "F.T. Baird and Son" in the fall of 1978 (Utah County, 1978). Fredrick T. Baird and his sons deeded the property to the current owner-occupants, Lorena Roach and Merle Hunter, in 1983 (Utah County, 1983). The Bairds are never listed in historical telephone directories as occupants of the property. It is possible that they rented the residence to a third party. Bert Peterson is listed as in residence from 1956 to 1975 (Mountain 'States Telephone and Telegraph Company, 1956, 1966 and 1975). Gladys Merle Hunter is listed as in residence after 1984 (Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company, 1984). No information about the Margretts could be located. 65 N. 400 W. Lchi. The building has the overall box shape of the foursquare with a spined, hipped roof sporting gablets at the peak ends with Minimal . Traditional style close eaves (see photo # 1556). Owner and resident Lorena Roach stated that she and family members have not altered the home since purchasing it in 1983 (Lorena Roach, personal communication, 07-01-09). The home rests on a painted concrete-wall foundation with a single, screened vent visible at the base of the southern elevation (see photo # 1561). The walls are constructed of concrete blocks and painted. The roofhas a moderate pitch, with close eaves and gablets at the peak ends. The roof is covered with composite asphalt shingles. Wood rot has damaged the eave on the western elevation (see photo # 1559). Three vent pipes exit the roof. One is centered in the northern roof slope and another is placed east of center at the base of the southern roof slope. The third pipe centered in the base of the roof slope over the western elevation; the pipe is rusted and uncapped, and appears older than the other two (see photo # 1559). A TV antenna is placed against the southern gablet face. The main entry is centered in the eastern elevation and contains a solid-core, single-panel door (see photo # 1556). The stoop is a wide concrete slab and ramp with a small, unsupported, gabled porch cover. The gable face is tilled with wood sheet. There are two window openings in the eastern elevation. The window opening positioned to the north of the entry is a tall, single-hung, wood-framed window with a metal-framed, storm window. The window opening to the south of the entry holds a large, fixed-pane, picture window in a wooden frame. The northern elevation has two symmetrically positioned window openings. Each window has metal-framed storm windows over woodframed, single-hung, sash windows. Both windows have striated brick subsills. The western elevation contains the secondary entry and three window openings (see photo # 1557). The entry is centered in the southern half of the elevation and contains a two panel door with a glass upper panel and a wood-framed screened storm door. The stoop is a concrete pad serviced by three concrete steps. The porch cover mimics the main entry cover. All three windows in this elevation are modem metal-framed inserts with metal-framed, storm windows. All window openings have striated brick subsills and are single-hung, sash windows. The northern window opening is tall , and centered in the northern half of the elevation. The middle window opening is small and set high in the elevation just north of the entry. The southern window is positioned near the end of the elevation. There is a meter box made of oversized brick (see photo # 1558) positioned under the center window. The southern elevation has two symmetrically placed windows (see photo # 1561). Both are wood-framed, single-hung, sash windows without storm windows. These windows also have striated brick subsills. The foundation vent is positioned under the western window. There is one contributing outbuilding located south of the residence (see photo # 1560). This outbuilding is an end-gable shed, constructed of brick. The roof has a steep pitch with close eaves and bargeboards (see photo # 1564). The roof and brick are severely deteriorated with remnants of plank rooting and large areas where the brick has spalled. The entry to the shed is centered in the northern elevation and consists of framed wood sheet. There are no windows or other openings (see photo # 1565, 1567). Smith (Utah County, 1941), until one year after the home was reportedly built in 1948. The record shows that the Margretts gave a warranty deed to Bert and Clare Petersen in October of 1949 (Utah County, 1949). Clara D. Peterson handed the deed to F.T. Baird and Son in the fall of 1978 (Utah County, 1978). It is Fredrick T. Baird and his sons who gave the warranty deed to the current owner-occupant Lorena Roach and Merle Hunter in 1983 (Utah County, 1982). The Bairds are never listed in the telephone directory for Provo and surrounding environs. It is possible that they rented the residence to a third party. Bert Peterson is listed as in residence from 1956 to 1975 (Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company, 1956, 1966 and 1975). Gladys Merle Hunter is listed as in residence after 1984 (Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company, 1984).
