Use continuation sheets as necessary: This circa 1898 Victorian Eclectic house retains many of its original features, and its numerous outbuildings remain virtually unchanged, except for natural deterioration. The front-facing cross wing is slightly lower than the wing that runs parallel to the street, and the green asphalt shingle roof features a mix of gables and hips. Two yellow brick chimneys are in very good condition. All of the windows in the brick home retain their original wood sashes and segmental arches, and a small rear addition with asbestos siding has aluminum sliding sashes. / I I I I \ \ \ An e most significant outbuilding is a large two story bam with concrete silo that retains little more than its ;tructural frame. Walls at the north end still survive; however, the building is in an advanced state of decay. A circa 1920s gabled shed, facing west, is covered with peeling green tar paper. While it appears to be structurally sound, it shows years of neglect. A small outhouse from the early twentieth century is also located behind (to the east) the house. Next to the outhouse a tum-of-the-century frame shed with shed roof appears to be structurally unsound, and its horizontal wood cladding is beginning to peel. A frame garage with several additions at the center of the other outbuildings appears to date from the 1920s through the 1940s. One section has an electric, metal, over-head replacement door. A frame carport with corrugated fiberglass roof has been attached to the south side of the house. The front (west) facade has a shed roof porch in the crosswing ell that is supported by poured concrete columns -: in the classical style. The concrete porch is slightly above grade to match the height of the foundation. The original, carved front-facing door with transom opens into a front parlor, and a matching door on the southfacing side of the ell opens to the same room. The south facade is covered by a carport that appears to date from the 1970s, and the door on this side has been replaced. There is a small, circa 1950s raised addition at the south end of the rear facade. Six wood steps lead up to a door on its north side, and a bulkhead door leading to the cellar is located next to the steps in the ell. The original electrical wiring runs along both the rear and north walls below the narrow frieze. Frank, was married to Mary Emma Scott Hopkins, the daughter of the original owner of this land. The Hopkins brothers purchased twenty acres from George Comb Scott, Sr. in 1894 for $1.200. In 1898 George Hopkins took out a mortgage from Mary Emma's older brother, George C. Scott, Jr. for $650, and he probably built the house with that money. In 1900, he sold the property, now with just ten acres, to George Scott, Jr. George Scott, Jr. was born on February 12, 18~ in Lake View to George Combs Scott, Sr. and Cornelia Elminia Kennedy. 1 On January 2, 1890l he married Josephine Jacobsen of Provo at the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church). She was born April 11, 1867, to Lars and Inga Thomasen Jacobsen. Together they had nine children, five of whom were already bom when they purchased the house. George served as the constable and justice of the peace for Lake View for many years, and he was also active in the local farm bureau. George passed away in 1939, and at that time Josephine gave the home to their oldest child, Frances Fern Scott Nicholes. Since 1963 the property has belonged to Richard Scott and his wife Georgia of Portland, Oregon, and they rent out the house. 1Lake View is the historic name for the unincomorated area of Geneva Road between Provo andOrem.
