Title Natural history of Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON): findings from a large patient cohort
Creator Magda Silva, Xavier Llòria, Claudia Catarino, Thomas Klopstock
Subject Optic Neuropathy
Description LHON is a rare mitochondrial disorder resulting in rapid, painless central vision loss in one eye, followed by a similar loss in the second within days to months, leading to severe vision loss. Current knowledge of LHON epidemiology and the nature of spontaneous recovery is based on a small group of studies, in which the definition of visual acuity (VA) outcomes vary. We report natural history data from an international, multicenter LHON medical record survey.
