| Description |
Use Sherlock 3CG Diamond TCS technology as an alternative method to chest X-ray and fluoroscopy for PICC tip placement confirmation in patients when relying on a patients' ECG signal. It helps navigate the PICC to the superior vena cava and position the catheter tip in proximity to the CavoAtrial junction. |

Show 3CG PICC TIP CONFIRMATION Amanda Anson, Tami Draper, Brooks Lloyd METHODS PURPOSE Use Sherlock 3CG Diamond TCS technology as an alternative method to chest X-ray and fluoroscopy for PICC tip placement confirmation in patients when relying on a patients' ECG signal. It helps navigate the PICC to the superior vena cava and position the catheter tip in proximity to the CavoAtrial junction. • Graphic Graphic Place EKC leads along with Sherlock device when placing PICC • Save all tracings • Obtain X-ray for confirmation • Compare CXR readings to saved 3CG tracings BACKGROUND CONCLUSIONS/IMPLICATIONS Many hospitals have used this technology to successfully decrease substantially the use of Chest X-ray confirmation of PICC tip placement. Thus decreasing X-ray exposure for the patient during their hospital stay. Decreasing cost to the patient. Decreasing the time between PICC placement and being able to use the PICC for treatment. Graphic Graphic • Locate and navigate the catheter tip in real time. • Confirm catheter tip placement at the cavoatrial junction with max P-wave Diamond. • Immediate confirmation of proper PICC tip position at the bedside reduces time to infusion therapy. • Decrease harmful radiation and costs: • Radiation accumulates in the body over time, increasing health risks. • The FDA has initiatives to reduce patient exposure to radiation. • When PICC tip placement is confirmed with Sherlock 3CG Diamond TCS, exposure to radiation is eliminated. • Eliminates costs associated with chest X-ray. • Reduce second bedside encounters for PICC tip adjustments, on initial insertion using the Sherlock 3CG Diamond TCS technology. |
