Description Patients' understanding of information given during discharge teaching is crucial because it contributes to drug regimen compliance, treatment follow up and reduction of complications (Gignon, Ammirati, Mercier, and Detave, 2014). The teach-back method has proven to be an effective tool to evaluate patients' understanding of instructions (Peter et al. 2015). Studies have shown that the teach-back method increases information retention after hospital discharge (Slater, Huang, & Dalawari, 2017; Miller, Lattanzio, and Cohen, 2016), and had positive effect in patient satisfaction (Centrella-Nigro and Alexander, 2017). This project focuses on the application of the teach-back method during discharge teaching in two units: WP5 and OTSS.
