Description It is accepted that each mammalian cell possesses a nucleus which contains DNA. Considering that DNA is a very long, highly twisted molecule in the shape of a double helix, how can it untwist to allow replication and transcription to take place? To overcome the geometrical problems, two enzymes have evolved; namely topoisomerase I and topoisomerase II.
