Leading the team on Saturday was junior Stephanie Jolley capturing first place in the 400m. Competing in the second heat, Jolley got things off to a quick start. She separated herself from the pack quickly finishing with a new lifetime-best 55.52 seconds. Jolly's time earned first place, edging out the first heat winner Amanda Alston of Weber State (55.89 seconds). Running into the wind, junior Angela Kaplar won her second 100m hurdles event title in two days. Kaplar clocked a time of 14.43 beating Montana State's Katie Niemeir who finished second with a time of 14.48. The shot put featured the Utes claiming four of the top-six spots. Heading the charge was Candus Aiello and Alanna Nulph. Finishing with a mark of 45-5.25 feet for second place was Aiello, while fellow teammate Nulph captured third with a mark of 44-11.00 feet. Destanae Howerton-Davis earned fifth with a mark of 43-9.00 feet. Nikkie Rudder rounded out the top-six finishers with a throw of 43-6.00 feet, respective for the Utes. |
