Final Score Three Utah distance runners competed on Friday at the Mt. Sac Relays. Sophomore Lucy Yates and junior Alyssa Abbott set new lifetime personal bests in their events and improved their marks on Utah's all-time performance list. Freshman Amanda Mergaert missed her personal best mark by 2.82 seconds. Yates competed in the Open 800m for a fourth place finish overall and an improved personal best time of 2:08.45. Her time ranks second all-time in Utah school history. Yates finished behind Althea Chambers of Jamaica (2:07.49), Chanelle Caldwell of Grand Valley State (2:07.68) and Christine Bruins of North Dakota State (2:08.01). Abbott finished late Friday night competing in the Olympic Development 5000m run. She set a lifetime personal best of 16:29.11 for 17th place overall. Her time ranks third all-time in Utah school history. Mergaert competed in the Open 1500m run for 23rd place overall with a time of 4:32.9. She missed tying her personal best by 2.82 seconds.
