Stacks of Hay

Update Item Information
Title Stacks of Hay
Identifier A0907
Subject Farming--Harvest--Hay--Haystacks
Description Inside a stack yard are several stacks of hay. In the early days the hay was orginally cut by a sythe by teams of workers. It was left to dry in the fields and then gathered on wagons. Pitch forks were used to load and unload the hay off the wagons. The hay was then stacked into loose stacks that looked like large loaves of bread. The stack was arranged so that moisture would run off the stacks.
