Description In this essay I give an argument to make explicit the metaethical commitment of Nel Noddings' ethic of care with respect to the existence of moral facts. I give an exposition of her view and an account of moral realism versus antirealism. Because the wide diversity of potentially caring acts it embraces, the ethic of care cannot inform itself with a moral realist metaethical theory. This can shed light onto our understanding of caring based ethics, gender, as well as moral realism.
