Description Work measurement and labor standards have been a part of industry for a long time. Production quotas and piece rate compensation are common in manufacturing organizations. It is surprising to some that these ideas have also found their place in service industries. service industries are finding that to make or maintain their place in this increasingly competitive arena, they must concentrate more and more on finding innovative, efficient ways to carry out their services. Many organizations, such as American Express' Travelers' Cheque Operations Center in Salt Lake City, have implemented work measurement and labor standards to help make operations run more efficiently.
