Mortensen finished 14th (58.88m) in the preliminary hammer throw event, barely missing the finals in which the top 12 athletes advance to. However, Mortensen came into the NCAA championships ranked 23rd in the nation so her 14th-place finish is an impressive improvement upon her previous national ranking. Hammons finished 23rd (2:10.09) in the preliminaries of the 800-meter race, but failed to qualify for the finals. Arevalo finished 24th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:15.06. He posted a 29:06.60 finish in the 10K earlier this year. |
