Leading the way for the women were Natasha Eldridge, Vanessa Mortensen, Becky Riddle and Amber Devries. Eldridge finished second in the weight throw, but was the first collegiate finisher in that event. Her mark of 17.49m was not only a new personal record, but ranks fourth on Utah's All-Time list. Mortensen followed Eldridge at third (17.09m) followed by Riddle at fourth (15.65m) and DeVries at sixth (15.11m). DeVires set personal records in both the weight throw and the shot put breaking into Utah's Top-Ten list in both events. On the men's side, veteran Delfino Arevalo and newcomer Brent Hawker led the way. Arevalo finished sixth in the 3,000m run with a time of 9:08.25. Hawker finished 11th in the shot put with a distance of 13.29m and also finished 11th in the weight throw with a distance of 12.63m. |
