Description In this summary the reported uses of medicinal plants by indigenous peoples (Native Americans) and early settlers of Utah were investigated. A brief history of the medicinal uses of plants as well as a history of Utah settlement was given. Only plants thought to be native to the Utah area before the coming of the railroad in 1869 have been examined. Indian medicinal uses of plants were compared and contrasted with pioneer uses. Some modern uses were also investigated and reported.
