Analysis of replication activity of SV40 T antigens

I have constructed cDNA T antigen clones in a mammalian plasmid expression vector having the cytomegalovirus virus promoter and transfected these recombinant plasmids into; monkey cells, the natural host of SV40. Replication assays were performed on DNA harvested from these cells. None of the plasmid constructs were replicated. Evidence is insufficient, however, to conclude from this result that the T antigens expressed by the cell lines of the SVT2 family are all deficient in replicative activity.
