In December 1908, the Murray City Commission, in their regular meeting, discussed the receipt of a letter from Mr. Andrew Carnegie indicating his interest in helping the city construct a public library. He offered five thousand dollars to finance the building and wanted to know what Murray City would be willing and able to do in relation to such a project. A committee was established to examine this proposition. |
