Lecture notes in category theory

The following example motivates many of the definitions of category theory and illustrates the difference between natural maps and maps that do not satisfy a naturality conditions. In order not to obscure the concepts important to category theory, some facts about finite-dimensional vector spaces and linear transformations will be stated but not proved.
