The politics of protectionism

We will use the United States, Japan and the European Economic Community as the three world economic centers in this paper. Four main aspects will be examined: 1. How each of the regions view protectionism and why they employ protectionist measures; 2. The way each of the actors approach protectionism and the means they use to enforce it; 3. How these actors are affected, both positively and negatively, by protectionism - the protectionism which they employ, as well as those measures imposed upon them by other countries; 4. How the world monetary system as a whole is influenced by protectionist measures adopted by these three actors and suggested changes to the current world monetary system.
