Description It is the goal of this study to present and test such an alternate formation. In presenting the alternative, this chapter is divided into three sections. The first presents an outline of dissonance theory and its application to the problem of attitude discrepant behavior. The second considers the research findings which have contradicted the classical analysis. The third section presents an alternate formulation and describes several hypotheses suggested by this altered perspective.
