Title Local versus national standards of obscenity: A proposed solution
Date 1986-08
Year graduated 1986
Description This analysis of the conflict between local and national standards of obscenity will, therefore, confine itself to a relatively narrow time frame and will concentrate to three basic issues: the Supreme Court decisions that have facilitated the conflict between local and national standards of obscenity; the problematic effects of the entrenchment of local standards; and the need for a new national standard in contemporary American society. A complete understanding of this conflict therefore requires, initially, a brief examination of the issue's tortured trek through the U.S. Supreme Court.
