Title Future physician opportunities: a guide to M.D., D.O., and D.P.M programs
Date 1995-05
Description The career of a physician, while challenging, difficult and personally rewarding, is very glamorous from an outsider's point of view. Unfortunately, prospective medical students begin the trek toward the medical profession blinded with this unrealistic glamor. Most students lack the a complete insight, knowledge or understanding of the responsibilities and opportunities available to them as a future physician. This project is a discussion of Allopathic (MD), Osteopathic (DO), and Podiatric (DPM), medical school programs, their strengths, weakness, and points to help the prospective student evaluate which program best suits their needs and desires for a future career. Applications, interviewing, and admissions are also covered. This project is not meant to replace the student's own inquiring research or practical experience involving the profession. It is meant as a starting point to provide basic information that will help the student in evaluating the possibility of a career as a physician.
