Title Inside out: a psychoautobiogarphy
Date 1996-06
Year graduated 1996
Description Inside Out is an attempt to understand myself--feelings, attitudes, and behaviors--as a product of my past, the past being father to the present. The fact that the author is also the subject makes this an autobiography. On the other hand, I do not purport--as one might in other works classified as autobiographies--to write history. The reader, if anyone besides myself chances to read this, will not find a chronological presentation of events. The reader is also warned neither to expect nor to pretend to understand the major forces, individuals, and experiences that have; shaped my life to date. That understanding might be found in a future autobiographical work, but not this one. The current work conforms more closely to a self-styled psychotherapy, an investigation into the inner reaches of my mind, as far as I am willing and able to make this known at this time. Inspired by Alice Koller's An Unknown Woman: A Journey to Self-Discovery, this work follows an in-the-moment style. In fact, the pages which follow contain experiences recorded as they occurred. Thus without the benefit of hindsight, this writing is designed to provide the reader the most true-to-life portrayal of this journey that is within my power to communicate.
