| Description | Skew deviation is a common cause of vertical strabismus. Occasionally, it may be difficult to distinguish skew from other causes (e.g., acquired 4th nerve palsy [4NP]). The upright-supine test showed excellent diagnostic accuracy for differentiating between longstanding skew and 4NP; however, there is no data concerning its diagnostic utility during acute/subacute presentation of vertical strabismus. |
