Description Visual prognosis in LHON is dependent on the primary causative mtDNA mutation and the age at onset of vision loss. Pediatric LHON patients are reported to have a better visual prognosis with decreasing age at onset. This impacts the risk-benefit assessment when determining appropriate inclusion criteria for therapeutic trials. We reviewed the literature to determine age-specific visual prognosis in pediatric LHON patients.
