Description Knowledge of the genetic mechanisms underlying hereditary optic neuropathies has increased over the past two decades. Identified genes are mainly related to forms that begin after adolescence. However, hereditary optic neuropathies can begin from early childhood and may then exhibit specific clinical features. We report a series of patients with early-onset hereditary optic neuropathies to determine their clinical and genetic characteristics.
