Description |
Rainbow Youth--the Gap. By instruments. Symbolical. Imagine this a bust picture of the Rainbow Youth, thus: As headdress, a squared Bear Paw--conventional. The arc of shoulders, the arc of the rainbow; rain falling from it; the Sun Father to left on a 'sky ladder.' The concentric circle to the right, a "Niavi Impaggy,: or Chiefs'Talk, in which all chiefs form a circle, discuss the issue, form a conclusion for all. If that conclusion is a rain rite, then a "Rain Sing" is held. Snake--the messenger to the gods for rain and water. (Probably drawn by Frank Beckwith, based on a petroglyph seen at Parowan Gap, Iron County, Utah) |
