Biographical Note/Historical Note +/-The overall mission of the Office of Communications is to promote the college and its president and to disseminate information about the college. In 2013 the Office of Communications at Westminster College was reconfigured and renamed the Office of Integrated Marketing & Communications. It is frequently shortened to the Office of Marketing & Communications, and occasionally still referred to as simply the Office of Communications, the name it went by during the 1980s, 1990s, and early 21st century. Publications: External communications include annual publications consisting of three magazines targeted to alumni, donors, and friends: two Reviews in spring and fall (the alumni magazine) and the President's annual report at the end of each year. In addition, the office promotes all cultural and educational events presented at the college that are open to the public, such as theater productions, concerts, poetry readings, and a wide variety of lectures. The office's goal is to provide constituents and the public access to a variety of college information and resources. Internal communications include electronic newsletters: the Westminster Update, a monthly newsletter and the Westminster Events eNewsletter a weekly newsletter for faculty and staff. Graphic design and production services are available to staff and faculty. The Westminster College Office of Marketing and Communications maintains online press releases and Westminster in the news articles, official college graphics and images, a list of media experts by discipline, department, and research interest. Media relations: The Westminster College Office of Communications is responsible for increasing the visibility of Westminster College nationally, regionally, and locally and for communicating key messages such as the quality of Westminster's faculty and students and the value of a Westminster College education, increasing the visibility of Westminster and enhancing appreciation of the College among alumni, parents, current and prospective students, current and potential contributors, professional colleagues, and the local community. Content Description +/-This collection consists of posters used to publicize various campus events at Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah. The posters, dating 1986-2009, were created and/or collected by the Office of Communications. The events range from series (i.e., Tanner-McMurrin Lectures and Anne Newman Sutton Poetry Series), to sports activities (for example, soccer and volleyball), dedication ceremonies (for example, the dedication of Giovale Library), art exhibits, homecoming activities, individual lectures, musical performances, parties, fundraising events, plays, and alumni reunions. Each of the posters include the event title, sponsor (and/or series), date, place, and time. Some also include event descriptions. Gaps in the collection: 1987-1994.
