The photograph is in good condition, except for a slight wrinkle in the middle. This appears to be a staged photograph where the individuals placed their heads into a ready made backdrop. The following is written on the back in blue pen: "Graduation Picture Westminster College (Collegiate College) Right. Mary Christine Engstrom. Matson ( Matson is written in pencil between Engstrom and Mother).Born 1871 (Mother of Joseph Rask Matson), Middle. Alfred Steifel Born May 6, 1871 Attended "old Presbyterian Collegiate Institute-Salt Lake City. Left. Maude Adams - Actress Mother's Name "Kiscaden?" There is an address label attached to the photograph with the address: "Mrs. Joseph R. Matson, 79 Hillside Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103." Under the address label is a symbol of a harp stamped on the photograph. The following is written in pencil, "According to Karen Henry this is Mary Page and not Maude Adams. Also, the man in the photograph is Isadore Meyer and not Alfred Stiefel. |
