Show A studio portrait of Daisy May Harroun Behle and Laura Gertrude Willes who were both professional nurses in Utah. Daisy is standing and Laura is sitting. Both women are dressed in dark dresses with light colored bows around their necks and dark colored cloaks draper around their shoulders. Both of them have dark colored hats on their heads and dark colored gloves with light colored cuffs showing above the gloves. The backdrop is very muted, but it appears to be curtains hanging in the left corned of the photograph and possibly a window and plants on the right side. The floor has a light colored covering. |

This photograph is in good condition. It was professionally taken and is attached to a hard cream colored mat. The mat is slight soiled. The names Daisy Harroun and Laura Willis [sic] are written in pencil at the bottom of the photograph. The names of the photographers are embossed along the bottom of the photograph: "Ellis and Goodwin, 64 West Second South St., Salt Lake City." On the back, written in blue ink, is : "Daisy Harroun Behle, Laura G Willes, Taken 1897 (approximately)"Both women were early nurses in Utah. Mrs. Behle was married to Dr. Augustus C. Behle, a well know medical doctor in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from St. Mark's Hospital nursing school in 1898. She was cited as an "angel of mercy" for her nursing work in connection with the explosion on May 1, 1900, at the mine at Scofield, Utah, where 200 miners were killed.
