Further Information The following is hand written on the boarder of the photograph: "Grace Potter. Left to right 2nd row Nettie Gray Ethel Huckvale, Miss Moore, Susie Wimmer." At the bottom of the photographs with an arrow pointing upward is the name "Lucy Thomas." At the very bottom of the photograph the following is written in red "Co-ed's 1888 or 1890." The upper left hand corner of the frame of the photograph obviously had some writing on it, but it is missing. The following is handwritten on the back of the photograph: "Miss Mary E. More and her bunch of dormitory girls in the early days of the "Old Collegiate: @ 2nd S. & 2nd East. ca 1892. Probably in the '80s rather the '90s. Dormitory in old "Octagon." The following information has been typed and glued to the back of the photograph: Back row: 1) ?; 2) -ist(?); 3)? 4)-a Larson-could be Ida Olivia Larson, Epraim Class of 1896 or Celestia Rebecca Larsen, Oakland, Cal.('95) 5) Hettie A. Seeley, Indianola, UT ('95) 6) Grace Violet Porter, Park City ('95) Center: 1) Nettie J. Gray, Benjamin, UT ('95) 2) Ethel S. Huckvale, ('94) Bloomington, ID 3) Miss Mary E. Moore 4) Susie Wimmer, Eureka, UT ('93) Front (2nd from Left): Lucy Smith Thomas, Spanish Fork ('95) from identified girls only, and if program was 4 years, class of 1895 started in Fall 1891, and Susie Wimmer graduated in May (or early June) 1893, so photo was probably taken between those dates. (If Larson, #4 back row, is Ida, that narrows the time: she would have started Fall 1892= photo taken school year 1892-3.) [Also: Mary Moore was the Grammar teacher but NOT Preceptress in 1887-8.] K.Hendry" A note attached to the photograph includes the following hand written information: "Center. Mary E. Moore, Early teacher at Institute and Preceptoress at the Girls' Home in downtown SLC-orig prop. Eventually named hall after her."
