Description Dr Gunn was born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1899. Dr Gunn received his Bachelors from Cornell University in 1921 and his M.D. in 1925 and Ph.D. in 1930 from Northwestern University. Dr Gunn was a National Research Fellow at the University of Buffalo where he completed his internship at Buffalo General Hospital. Dr Gunn was Instructor in Pathology at Northwestern University (1927-1928); Associate Professor (1928-1931); Assistant Professor (1931-1939); Associate Professor (1939-1944). Dr Gunn was Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathology at the University School of Medicine from 1944-1954. Dr Gunn served on the staff of the LDS Hospital until his retirement in 1965. Dr Gunn was awarded emeritus status as Professor of Pathology. Dr Gunn died in 1988. The portrait of Dr Gunn was painted by Alvin Gittins in 1962. All portraits at present are in temporary storage during the library retrofit.
