| Description | Extra-ocular muscles ( EOM) enlargement can result from a broad range of different diseases. While Graves' disease is the most common cause of enlarged EOM, other disorders may mimic thyroid orbitopathy. Orbital myositis may cause enlargement of a single EOM but is an acute, painful process. EOM enlargement in malignant diseases has been described only sporadically with a prevalence less than 0.5%. Metastatic malignancies are commonly breast, prostate and lungs. Bcell lymphomas are the most frequent malignant tumor in the orbit, of which MALT lymphoma is the most common. |
