Dry eye disease occurs mainly due to impairment of lacrimal gland function. Our previous study demonstrated that ovariectomy (OVX) significantly increases the rate of apoptosis and activity of cleaved caspase-3 in the lacrimal gland of a genetically predisposed mouse model (NOD.B10.H2b) of Sjögren's Syndrome (SS) compared to control (C57BL/10) mice. |
