| Title | Improvement in Visual Field Deficit Following Surgical Treatment of Cerebral Cavernous Malformation Involving the Optic Chiasm |

| Description | Cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM) are relatively common vascular anomalies (prevalence of 0.5% in the general population). Mutation in the CCM1 gene (7q21.2) has been found in many familial CCM cases, as well as with sporadic cases with multiple malformations. Only a subset of patients with the disease becomes symptomatic, typically with focal neurologic deficits, seizure, and intracranial hemorrhage. Resection is often the preferred therapy for CCM in the setting of recurrent hemorrhage or seizure; however no reports in the literature support post-operative improvement in visual deficits. |
