Subject Eyelid Myokymia; Neuroimaging; Botox
Description Eyelid myokymia, the most common type of facial myokymia, is often transient and benign. Occasionally, it may progress to other involuntary facial movement disorders. However, when persistent and isolated, the suspicion for brainstem disease rises; neuroimaging is recommended to rule out a mass or demyelinating process. Though observations have been made, no systemic study has been done on patients with persistent isolated eyelid myokymia to investigate its natural history, incidence of underlying pathology, or treatment outcomes.
