Description Azithromycin (AZ) is a macrolide antibiotic approved worldwide to treat a variety of community-acquired; infections. Recently, it was reported that AZ reduced oxidative stress in lung ischemia and protected mice; following ischemic stroke. Optic nerve crush (ONC) is a common model simulating optic neuropathy and is used in this study to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of AZ.
