| Description | A case of a young man with a vertebral artery dissection that caused multiple posterior circulation brain infarcts. Images from an MRI of the brain, digital subtraction angiography, and Humphrey visual fields are included. Figure 1 : Humphrey visual fields showed a right homonymous hemianopia with relative central sparing. Figure 2 : MRI brain DWI and ADC images showing acute infarcts at the bilateral temporo-occipital junctions, left more than right. Figure 3 : MRI brain DWI and ADC images showing acute infarcts in the anterior medial left occipital lobe and bilateral posterior thalami. Figure 4 : Digital subtraction angiogram, anteroposterior view, showing the left vertebral artery and posterior cerebral circulation. Occlusion of a P2 branch of the left posterior cerebral artery led to an ischemic stroke responsible for a portion of the patient's symptoms. |
