Alyssa Abbott caught the spot light breaking the school record in the 5000m that has been held for 23 years. Senior Alyssa Abbott competed in the 5000m and set a new school record time of 16:17.86. Abbott's time earned her seventh overall in the event and beat a school record that has been standing since 1988. Coming off a season best performance in the 100m hurdles at Thursday's Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational, Angela Kaplar finished 13th place with a time of 14.05 at the Mt. Sac Relays.In the 1500m, Amanda Mergaert cruised to a seventh place finish with a new lifetime best time of 4:23.51. Mergaert's time ranks third all-time in school history. Lucy Yates finished 15th place in the 1500m race, clocking a new personal best time of 4:26.47, which ranks sixth all-time in Utah history. Brianna LeRoy competed in the high jump for the Utes, where she finished fourth place clearing new personal record mark of 5-8.75. On Saturday Langley Iverson competed in the Olympic Development competition for the high jump and finished ninth clearing the barrier of 5-7.00. Freshman Rosalie Griffin has dropped a second off her 400m hurdles time in every race this season. She continued that trend on Thursday at the Azusa Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational, posting a time of 1:03.42. In the throwing competitions, Candus Aiello set two personal records. Aiello recorded a throw of 46-2.75 (13th overall) in the shot put and threw a distance of 142-08 in the discus earning her 23rd-place. In the 10K, Rebekah Winterton finished with a personal record of 36:05, which ranks seventh all-time in school history. |
