Malignant melanomas may affect the visual system in several ways. We have chosen not to discuss the intraocular consequences of primary intraocular melanomas in this chapter; the reader interested in this subject should consult one of the many authoritative texts on intraocular tumors. In addition, the paraneoplastic syndrome of melanoma-associated retinopathy (MAR) is discussed in Chapter 36. In this chapter, we discuss the neuro-ophthalmologic consequences of cutaneous, ocular, and primary CNS melanomas. |
