| Description | Members of the genus Pseudomonas are motile, gram-negative, strictly aerobic, slightly curved bacilli. They are common inhabitants of soil, water, and marine environments. At least one species, P. mallei, seems to be a specialized mammalian parasite, whereas others are only occasional animal pathogens. The most important species from the standpoint of both neurologic and neuro-ophthalmologic disease, is P. aeruginosa. |
