Toward Figurative Transformation

The paintings selected for my M.F.A. show evolved during the last year of my graduate study. These paintings were a result of my continual search for the life force or essence of the object through the immediacy of paint. The four monotypes and four series of paintings represented a considerable shift from my early abstract works, this toward figurative expressionism. In them my intention has been to capture an underlying figure structure with gestural paint quality, to create a mood of the image and to invite the viewer into a meaningful dialogue with each work.
