Description "Optic disc drusen (ODD) are hyaline deposits located within the optic nerve head. While a minority of ODD patients are affected by complications such as anterior ischemic optic neuropathy and retinal hemorrhages, optic coherence tomography (OCT) reveals thinning of the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in most patients. Peripapillary RNFL thinning is thought to be associated with the high frequency of visual field defects seen in these patients. The goal of this study was to investigate the basic characteristics of patients with ODD and to compare the peripapillary RNFL thickness to the anatomic location of ODD, the risk of complications and the extent of visual field defects."
