Description |
This letter from I. Merley (?) discussed a visit from Chief Walker and Arrowpeen. During their visit, Merley (?) explained to Chief Walker and Arrowpeen that local Indians walked on Mormon settlers land, "taking considerable liberties." Merley (?) explained to Young that he asked Arrowpeen and Chief Walker to try and control the Indians, who Merley (?) fears "will steel everything they can get ahold of." Merley (?) claimed that Chief Walker told him, that some of the Indians would "mind him." Merley said that despite his talk with Walker, he still feared the Indians and wanted Young to write him to give him council regarding the situation. |
